Around The Farm

Workers at Shryocks farm prepare for the day and opening the corn maze on Saturday, Nov. 5. The maze is open Friday through Sunday during the fall season.
Pumpkins and gourds are sold at the farm. People are free to pick out their favorite to take back to their home. 

A young boy spends his day at the farm playing hide and go seek with friends and family on Saturday, Oct. 29. In addition to the corn maze, visitors also can take a hayride, sit by the camp fire, or see the gumball roller coaster inside the barn. 

After getting their checkpoint sheets from inside the barn, a family enters the maze on Saturday, Nov 5. People of all ages are welcome to go through the corn maze and attempt to find the end. 


A father and his son fill out their checkpoint sheets from the corn maze. The sheets can be placed in one of the three trashcans to be drawn for a prize. 

By using a global positioning system, the trails are plowed through the crops to create the corn maze each year. The design is chosen and fabricated by the son of the Shryocks farm owners.

Shryocks Callaway Farms is located off I-70 near Columbia, Missouri. It has been family owned and operated sine 1889.

A family returns to the barn after making their way through the corn maze on Saturday, Oct. 29. For those not wishing to complete the maze, there are multiple places along the trail where they can get out.

A woman fills out her checkpoint sheet after leaving the maze. The amount of checkpoints that were found determines the prize that can be won in the drawing. 


The corn maze celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special design of grandma Shryocks for the corn maze. The first maze was created and 2002 and featured the Mizzou tiger.

Inside the Big Red Barn, there are family photos and articles showing what the farm used to look like and how it is today. Though it has changed, it is still owned by the Shryock family. 

A large group stands inside of the barn admiring the gumball roller coaster. The barn also offers refreshments, t- shirts, and other memorabilia from the Shryocks farm.

Multiple gumballs make their way through the roller coaster toward the ceiling of the barn. The coaster was hand crafted specially for the Shryocks farm. 

A boy puts 25 cents into the gumball machine and watches it travel up to the ceiling. This is the most popular attraction among kids at the farm. 

Workers keep wood on the campfires outside of the corn maze. Visitors are free to bring their own food for a picnic and can rent metal rods for roasting marshmallows or cooking hot dogs.
